Welcome to BLACK PLUM STUDIO
At Black Plum Studio, we believe flowers are more than something beautiful to look at; they’re a way to spark connection and celebrate the moments that matter.

Born from a love of design and nature, our studio is an inclusive space where materials are chosen with care and sustainability underpins everything we do. Most of all, we care about the people behind the flowers. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event or bouquet subscription, we take the time to listen, understand, and create something that feels genuinely yours.

Black Plum Studio began, as many good things do, with a coffee and a chat that got out of hand. Georgie and Ro bonded over a shared fondness for beautiful blooms, good design and travel — the sort of conversation that starts with “wouldn’t it be nice if…” and somehow ends with an ABN and a room full of flowers. What began as musings about colour palettes and petal shapes escalated into a fully fledged studio, proof that some obsessions are best shared.
Together, they’ve built a space where beauty meets a bit of mischief, flowers have opinions, and every arrangement is made with care, curiosity, and the occasional spirited debate about whether beige is a colour or a conspiracy.

Meet Ro
Ro is co-founder and the studio’s anchor: calm, intuitive and entirely unflappable. Design seems stitched into her DNA; she has a sharp eye for balance and a knack for making things look effortless.
Born and raised in Sydney, she moved to Wollongong to study graphic design at uni, where she fell in love with colour, texture and storytelling, unknowingly laying the groundwork for her next creative spiral: floristry. That love took her from local flower markets to freelancing in Italy, where her days were spent making wild, romantic arrangements and her evenings eating pasta and drinking wine she’d more than earned
Outside of flowers, Ro’s an artist through and through. She’s painted and sold her work for years, each piece inspired by light, texture and the beauty hiding in a bit of chaos. When she’s not painting, she’s swimming laps or wandering somewhere scenic, accompanied by Ruby, her Chihuahua–Jack Russell cross and the studio’s unofficial mascot, who takes her supervisory duties very seriously.

Meet Georgie
Georgie is co-founder and veteran bloom-wrangler at Black Plum Studio. She’s what polite society calls a curious soul — which, in practice, means she thrives on chasing down ideas until they give up their best secrets.

A creative dabbler at heart, her background wanders through floral design, styling and photography. She spent 13 years abroad in the UK, New York and Stockholm, honing her skills and developing both an eye for composition and a fondness for the small cultural quirks — those subtle differences in how beauty, language and humour reveal themselves depending on where you stand.

Now calling the Illawarra home, Georgie spends her spare time on various creative tangents, collecting ceramics she insists are “functional” and battling the surf with varying degrees of dignity. She’s also a proud dog auntie to Phyllis, a stumpy-tail cattle dog who regards vases with the same suspicion she reserves for humans.

Georgie’s approach to design is simple: tread lightly, let instinct lead, and trust that everything will find its place.
